Andrew wong
Andrew has been a lifelong athlete and a martial arts practitioner for over 20 years. He was first introduced to acupuncture and Eastern Medicine when he sought treatment for a wrist injury sustained practicing martial arts. Fascinated by the holistic view of Eastern medicine and adjunct therapies like topical herbs and massage, Andrew decided to pursue his new found passion. He went on to graduate from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine – NY with a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine, and is currently a WA state Licensed Acupuncturist and nationally board certified herbalist. Andrew also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from CUNY Queens College and was formerly a forensic biologist at the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
While at Pacific College, Andrew met Master Fukui Yang, who he studied Chinese medical theory, Tui Na massage, and Tai Chi Chuan and Internal Martial Arts with for over 8 years. Andrew also served as Master Yang’s Teacher Assistant at Pacific College, where they taught Tui Na massage and Tai Chi Chuan classes for the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. Studying with Master Yang helped Andrew solidify his knowledge of Eastern medicine, body mechanics, and mental health into a cohesive treatment philosophy.
Andrew combines his knowledge of Eastern medicine, science, and athletic experience into an integrative approach to assist and guide his patients on their path to healing. He believes that the key to helping patients is to address both their physical and emotional states of being. His goal is to strengthen and support both the body and mind to build his patients’ resiliency to handle the daily stressors of life.
Through this approach, Andrew has been able to help many patients with conditions ranging from simple back and neck pain, to more complex conditions such as auto-immune diseases, anxiety and depression, sleep disorders, and fertility issues. He has treated patients from all walks of life, ranging from financial analysts and high level executives to stay-at-home parents and the LGBTQ community. Additionally, he has worked with all levels of athletes, including amateur boxers, UFC coaches, national level athletes, marathon runners, and weekend warriors. Ultimately, Andrew hopes to have a positive impact on every patient that he meets.
